A Breathtaking Hotel in Amsterdam
/AKA our first night in our favorite city!
We can’t believe it’s already been a week since we’ve been home from an unforgettable trip to Amsterdam. KLM brought us back for another year to help celebrate their birthday, though this year they went all out because it’s their HUNDREDTH year! How crazy is that? Did you know they’re the oldest airline company still in operation today?
They put us up at the Conservatorium Hotel which is thisclose to the Rijksmuseum, and you can practically see it from the entrance to the hotel. As for the hotel itself, it was absolutely stunning. We were at a loss for words when we entered the lobby with its glass ceiling and open concept. Have you ever seen anything like this!? Because we haven’t.
The hotel was a number of things in the past before becoming what it is today. We heard from several people that it was a bank, a school for music, and a shopping center. We think it was most recently a school before sitting vacant for a number of years before being bought and turned into a hotel about eight years ago.
As for our room, it was two stories with two bathrooms (!) and an amazing view of the atrium/lobby. One of the bathrooms was hidden behind a paneled door and the other one had a TV in the mirror and a huge shower room with an over-sized tub and a rainfall shower head.
The first night we were there KLM had everyone that they brought for the trip meet in the hotel’s bar for apps and drinks. The fun part was that we were finally meeting a lot of these people in person after only knowing each other on Instagram for years. Another fun part was getting to meet new friends that we weren’t familiar with. The people they brought were all so diverse and from different backgrounds. Nothing like a city like Amsterdam to bring everyone together.
Such a fun first night in such a magical city. Hoping we can return soon or at least visit another one of their locations in Paris or London! :)
