Two Very Important Meetings
/Today was a big day for us!
We met with several case workers about a kiddo who might be a potential placement for us. We can’t share too many details right now, but we’ve been looking forward to today for weeks. We were so excited to finally learn more about them in the “full disclosure meeting”, which is where they disclose everything they know about the kiddo (and we do mean everything) and see if it’s a good fit for both us and them.
All last night and into this morning, we were picking up the house and getting things in order for the case workers (there were four of them!). Nothing like company coming over to get you in the spirit to clean, right?
Besides the meeting we had, there was another meeting happening at the exact same time as ours just across town. That meeting was in regards to our first placement- the three kids we’ve been babysitting from time to time over the last three months. Again, we can’t share too much about what’s going on with that whole situation, but the meeting was basically about their future with the state, with their family, and with us.
Today was a huge day for us, for such different reasons that are all somewhat connected. There is so much up in the air right now and we have a couple of big decisions to make in a very short amount of time. It’s wild that everything went down on the same day, at the same time, and within a few miles of each other. What are the odds?
It’s a crazy time in our lives (for better or worse), and if you would have asked us a year ago if we thought we would be in the position we’re in now, we would have said 100% no. And that’s not to say it’s bad, because it’s not, it’s just a somewhat difficult one. We want our cake and be able to eat it, too. We want more than what’s maybe possible. At the end of the day, though, we just want what’s best for all the kiddos.
Thanks for following along with us on this journey so far. We can’t wait to share more when the timing is right. If we’ve learned anything during this entire process, it’s that it’s a roller coaster in every way possible: emotionally, mentally, and physically.
