The 1st presidential debate of 2020 (out of three) is tonight between President Trump and Vice President Biden. Will you be watching? We plan to put the kiddos to bed, pop some popcorn, pour the wine, maybe fold the mounds of laundry I’ve let pile up this week, and watch these two face off. It’s exhilarating, and somewhat frightening, to think the election is a little over a month away (exactly 35 days!), isn’t it?

Below are some things to know ahead of tonight’s debate:

Time:

9p-10:30p ET

Where to watch:

The debate will air on all major networks, and you can stream it online here.

Moderator:

Fox News’ Chris Wallace

Topics:

  • The Trump and Biden Records

  • The Supreme Court

  • Covid-19

  • The Economy

  • Race and Violence in our Cities

  • The Integrity of the Election

Where:

Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Format:

Per CNN: “The candidates will not have opening statements, and Trump will receive the first question from the moderator. Each segment will last about 15 minutes, and the candidates will have two minutes to respond after the moderator opens each segment with a question. Wallace will then use the rest of the time in the segment to facilitate further discussion on the topic, according to the commission.”

Future Debates:

The next two debates for Biden and Trump are October 15 and 22, and Harris and Pence’s sole debate is next Wednesday, October 7.
