Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

Happy holidays!!

At the last minute, we packed up the Land Cruiser and headed out to the farm to spend Thanksgiving at the tiny house. I can’t tell you how much we love to see the kids (and animals: we brought all the dogs with us, too) run free over the hills and trails at the farm. Such a nice change of scenery from our day to day lives in town.

I cooked in the tiny house for the first time and it was…interesting. I didn’t have everything I needed, but we made the best of it and had a great time overall. We all played so hard that we were in bed by 7:45p and not one of us was upset about it. Being at the farm has a way of making us go to bed early and wake up early. Funny how that happens, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, our children’s’ aunt picked them up yesterday for a sleepover this weekend! She took them to Chattanooga to see Santa and fireworks down by the river. She was sending us pictures and they look like they had a BLAST. It’s not often that it’s just the two of us these days, so we stayed at the farm last night and we’re staying again tonight. PJ’s cousin and her husband might be coming out tonight, so we’ll get so much needed adult time in (fingers crossed!).

As much as we love these breaks from the kids at times, as soon as they leave and the door shuts behind them, I’m always left feeling so incredibly…sad. I instantly miss them. The thing is, I know it’s good for everyone; we all need a break and our space at times, but those first few minutes (hours?) are always the hardest. But it always makes them bursting through the front door that much sweeter when they return home. And I take so much joy and comfort knowing they’re having a blast and hopefully not missing us as much as we miss them.

Have a festive, wonderful weekend dear reader!!
