I can’t believe I just typed those words.
And to be quite honest, I can’t believe this is happening. PJ has talked about wanting to own a house at the beach for as long as I can remember, and a few years ago when the pandemic first began, we were thisclose to actually purchasing one. I can’t remember if we ever told you about that? It was the cutest little brick cottage, brand new and would be considered a steal in today’s prices (the market is the highest it’s been in recent memory!).
But that one didn’t work out, and two years later, I’m so happy PJ’s dream of owning a beach house has come true with this cute little beach cottage that needs some TLC.
The cottage is about 800 feet from the beach (click here to watch a walkthrough tour of it in our newest vlog!!). When you’re standing at the front door, it’s a little ways to the beach, but you can see the ocean from right there. The thought of being able to load up a little wagon and cooler with the kids and just walk a short distance to the beach (instead of searching for a parking spot nearby and still having to walk quite a ways to get there) gets our minds racing with excitement. Oh the possibilities!!
PJ found this little house before we left for Florida and he knew it was worth taking a look at. It was in the area we stayed at last summer with our friends and we love the location. It’s up and coming and filled with a bunch of old, charming, retro houses that are begging to be renovated.
Speaking of being renovated, this house has seen better days. It’s only 600 square feet and every single foot of it is scary looking right now. It looks like the previous owners were in the middle of fixing it up and just left it maybe? Either way, it’s basically a blank slate that we could do anything with and take in whatever direction we want. We have started talking about what all we want to squeeze into it and so far that list includes: At least two bedrooms and a bunk room, an additional bathroom, and a small kitchen/living area.
We’re going to have to get creative with space since it’s greatly lacking in it, but PJ has said he’s always wanted a small little beach cottage, so this is one we’re so extremely excited about renovating!!
We’ve been coming to 30A for over six years and it’s our favorite little getaway, even more so now with the kids. We will keep you updated on the renovation and design of it! Oh, and the name! You know we name all of our projects and I think we’ve settled on a fun name for this one. SO EXCITED!!
