Hey you

Welcome to the blog. Here you’ll find daily dispatches and all the musings of our family’s adventures in our small town as we raise our kids, fix up our farm, and renovate houses, all through the lens of Keep & Delete, where we share the best (Keep) and worst (Delete) part of every day. Thanks for stopping by! We’re so glad you’re here.

This Just In: Even Gloomy Days Can be Magical

This Just In: Even Gloomy Days Can be Magical

Yesterday was one of the foggiest, dreariest days at the farm in recent memory. And of course, we loved it.

It’s no secret at this point that we’ve grown to appreciate the rainy days at the farm just as much as the sunny ones. The way everything becomes quieter, stiller, calmer. Mist was all around us and fog was covering everything, completing hiding the mountain behind the hills. See the sheep above? That’s where the mountain is normally visible, but on days like this, you would never even know it’s there. Kind of like the giant in the BFG: it’s always there, but sometimes just not in plain site.

For reference, this is what it normally looks like:

But yesterday, it looked like this:

Lover (below) clearly enjoys the gloomy weather, too. She wasn’t letting a few clouds get her down.

When it’s this dark and rainy out there, the entire feeling of the farm is different. It’s almost more magical and mystical than when the sun is shining. It’s hard to explain, as the best feelings always are, but it’s one that is both comforting and a little mysterious. Maybe anything can happen when the fog settles like this. Who knows?

Haunting, spooky, and almost foreboding. Like something straight out of a thriller. And you know what? We couldn’t get enough. I can only imagine how much we’re going to relish cloudy, misty days once we’re living out there full time.
