Are You Good at Giving Gifts?

Our 8 year wedding anniversary was last week.

The last couple years we haven’t gone the route of gifts, opting instead for a nice dinner out, just the two of us. But this year, I wanted to get something for PJ that he would be able to use a lot and actually love. I am notoriously bad at gift giving. I never know what to get someone and I always want until the last minute and I just am never confident in the gifts I end up do getting. So it actually works out perfectly that we avoid gifts for each other every year.

However. The perfect gift for him came to me one day, and I knew it was going to be perfect for him. He had this gold flat chain necklace for years that he lost sometime last year and has been so upset about not being able to find it ever since. I thought it would be so cute to get him a replacement, so that’s just what I did. I hopped on Amazon and looked at so many different necklaces until I found the perfect one. I clicked it, bought it, and waited for its arrival.

But when it finally came in the mail, IT WAS TINY. I didn’t understand. I had measured and looked at review photos and videos of it and it looked perfect online. Don’t you hate when that happens? When the thing you order online looks nothing like it does in real life? I gave it to him, and while he was so thankful for the idea of it all, he agreed that it wasn’t a good fit. So I will be returning it ASAP and going to find him a new one. When he’s with me. In person.

So now this whole ordeal just reinforces to me that I am just the worst gift giver ever. It’s the thought that counts, right?

What about you? Are you good at giving gifts or do you struggle with it, too? I’ve always thought PJ was really good at giving gifts, and next time I need to channel that energy when I’m picking something out for him!
