What Board Games Do You Love?
/All during the holidays, we really started getting into games for the first time in…well, ever.
We’re much more of a movie kind of family, who love nothing more than cozying up on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn and watching a family-friendly film. But I wanted to pivot this year and focus our time and attention on another type of entertainment: board games.
Up until now, really, the kids have been too young to grasp games the whole family could play, so it’s never been on our radar to spend an evening doing games instead of TV. But I grew up playing board games around the dining room table with my family, and it’s one of my most cherished memories, so this is something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.
You may remember we had a few game nights over the break with friends, and it felt so good to exercise a part of my brain that I hadn’t in way too long. Plus, laughing, screaming, planning and plotting are always fun, too.
The family fave right now is Uno. The kids are LOVING it. They can’t quite play it without us yet, since they try to change the rules if we’re not in the room, but it’s the one they always request to play. Our favorite one to play when the kids are upstairs is The Chameleon. It’s best with six to eight players, especially if those players are very loud.
We’ve gotten into a few others lately, and I’m so excited to keep adding to our collection. Our current favorites are:
Cards Against Humanity Family Edition
And of course, Uno
What about you? What are your favorite games to play together? Would love some more ideas so we can keep this new tradition alive!
