The Week Between Christmas and New Years
You know the week I’m talking about.
Do you leave the Christmas decorations up or take them down? Do you use all your PTO and take the entire week off or is it business as usual? Are we over Christmas music or do we keep blasting it until the new year?
It’s still technically the holidays, but no longer Christmas, so there’s this weird in-between right before the new year begins that I used to hate, but now have actually come to enjoy. Where it used to feel like a Sunday evening every day during this time, it now feels cozy, warm, and like the perfect excuse to hunker down and read, watch movies, do puzzles, and play with a millions LEGOS.
We’ve spent the last few days doing just that.
Right now the kids are in the dining room playing with their new Harry Potter LEGOS while PJ takes a nap on the couch beside me. The sun is shining bright and it’s colder today than it’s been the last few, which means the fire has been going as we pile under blankets to keep warm.
The whole house, with the exception of me, is coming down with a cold. Everyone is all sniffles and coughs, but I remain immune for now. I’m about to run to the store to get groceries to make chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight and to stock up on cold and flu medicine.
After that, I think we’ll be in for the rest of the week.
