Super Sweet Sunday
/We slept in this morning.
I heard the kids in the living room just outside our door as I scooted in closer to PJ, wrapping us both up in our comforter. Neither of us wanted to get up. It was overcast and chilly, which is the perfect recipe for staying in bed, isn’t it? The rest of the day felt similar to our lazy, drawn-out morning.
PJ made from scratch biscuits that were delicious. I told him they tasted like a gourmet, hip breakfast joint downtown made them. We smothered them in butter and strawberry jam and I helped myself to two. He just woke up and thought, “I want to make biscuits today” and that’s the man I married.
After biscuits, a nap was in order for PJ, so that’s just what he did. Isn’t that what Sunday’s are for?
Then there was a (much needed) haircut for Riah, and then I threw the ball with Allan in the backyard while PJ pruned the trees and bushes.
And then we went for a long walk on The Greenway, which felt like stepping into another city for a bit. I love the weather we’re having lately; warm enough to finally enjoy the outside and see some green on the trees, but still chilly enough in the mornings to warrant a big cozy sweater.
On the way back from the walk, we stopped by my mom’s house to say hi and get some water. She showed PJ how well all of her plants are doing (except the succulent she accidentally killed) while the kids played in her backyard. I can’t tell you how much we love that both of our mom’s live within walking distance of us. What would we do without them?
When we got home it was dinner time. With not enough time (or energy) to make something, we decided to go out for Mexican food just down the street. It hit the spot, and now we’re home and the kids are showered and in the pajamas and we’re about to tuck them in. What a day with the loves of my life.
These are the kind of days I want to remember forever. I used to hate Sundays, but I think I will keep this one.
