Hey you

Welcome to the blog. Here you’ll find daily dispatches and all the musings of our family’s adventures in our small town as we raise our kids, fix up our farm, and renovate houses, all through the lens of Keep & Delete, where we share the best (Keep) and worst (Delete) part of every day. Thanks for stopping by! We’re so glad you’re here.

Let Me Introduce You To Our Newest Farm Animal

Let Me Introduce You To Our Newest Farm Animal

This week was a very trying one, y’all, filled with a few ups and many downs, but we’re almost to Friday, and that’s something to celebrate, isn’t it?

I know life online for many (all?) people looks like it’s perfect all the time, but I hope now that social media has been around for over a decade that we all know that’s not the case. Life is hard sometimes, a lot of the times actually. PJ is still getting over his sickness, and is probably 90% better, but still feeling some of the tiredness from his stomach flu-like illness last week. And it feels like we’re playing catch up with work this week, with suddenly so many deadlines all coming to a head at the same time. And then the farm is in a season of transition, with PJ lining up contractors to finally finish Holiday House (a full-time job in and of itself) while taking care of all the animals (Dixie will be away for a month).

Nothing we can’t handle, but day-to-day, real life stuff that feels hard and overwhelming in the moment. There are busy seasons and then there are super busy seasons. Guess which one we’re in right now?

All that to say, we’re checking off a lot on our to-do list, which always make things seem less scary and all-consuming, and we also have a new family member at Ocoee Farm! Meet Piggerton:

She is a cross between a wild boar and one of our miniature pot-belly pigs. I actually posted about him back in February on Ocoee Farm’s Instagram page, and how he snuck through our fence after trying to get in for a few days. Then he finally got in and…well he and our pig, Soleil, met and fell in love and had a one night stand that Pigerton is the result of. That’s farm life!

Don’t you love her stripes? We both think she looks so wild and exotic.

Piggerton has been staying at our house in town for the last two days and we’ve all taken turns bottle feeding her and cuddling her tight. PJ fell asleep on the couch today with her wrapped up in his arms and it was the cutest damn thing you’ve ever seen. I’m kicking myself for not taking a picture of it, but here’s a picture of her right after PJ gave her a bath in the sink that will have to suffice instead.

The boys don’t have summer school on Fridays, so we’ll all (hopefully) get to sleep in tomorrow! Happy Thursday night, loves. xoxoxo
