Hey you

Welcome to the blog. Here you’ll find daily dispatches and all the musings of our family’s adventures in our small town as we raise our kids, fix up our farm, and renovate houses, all through the lens of Keep & Delete, where we share the best (Keep) and worst (Delete) part of every day. Thanks for stopping by! We’re so glad you’re here.

We Have Doors In and Trim Up at Holiday House!

We Have Doors In and Trim Up at Holiday House!

It seems like with each passing day, Holiday House is getting closer and closer to being complete. We’re in the home stretch now.

After renovating this little house for three years, it’s crazy to be at this point; to see windows and trim and doors and walls in what was once just an old trailer. Today we walked through the house ooooo-ing and ahhhhhh-ing as we passed every wooden door and, at the same time, noticing how much natural light comes pouring through the windows in the morning. We’re not normally at the farm so early, so it was fun to see it at a different time of day and imagining what we’ll be doing when we’re actually out there full time.

In the photo below, you can see the living room (to the right), the kitchen (back left), and the dining room (far left behind PJ). It’s one big open space, something we’re not entirely used to since our home back in town has a few walls up. It’ll be fun, though, doing life a little differently. A little more openly, if you will. I can picture me being in the kitchen cooking while the kids are at the dining room table playing with LEGOS and PJ is in the living room watching TV. I’m getting excited just thinking about it.

I wish you could see the paint color in person. You can kind of get an idea of it through pictures, but in real life, it’s this super warm creamy yellow. It’s our favorite white and we’ve used it in every house we’ve done. I’ll share more about the paint colors we used soon!

This is the boys’ room that they’ll share. All the rooms still need baseboards and crown moulding.

See how much sunlight comes in through the huge five windows in the living room? And that view?! I can’t wait for us to experience this room in a relaxing way and not just constantly getting worked on construction way. It feels like such a happy space already.

Up next: Finish all the trim and then floors!
