Going Back in Time

We never watch our old vlogs. We shoot them, edit them, post them, and then that’s it.

I don’t know why we never take the time to sit down and watch them again, but we just don’t. That is, until the other night. Our friend Julia was over and was asking about how we edit our videos, so I pulled a few up on YouTube from a few years back and we started to watch one. And that one ended and another one began. And another. And suddenly, we watched four vlogs in a row and it felt like going back in time, to a completely different time, in fact.

I was looking at the two guys in the videos and they look similar to us, but also very different. Me, a little thinner and with less gray hair, and PJ, looking almost the exact same (how does he do that?) and that life feels so very far away from where we’re at now. All the videos we watched were before the kids and before the pandemic, so basically before our entire world changed forever.

I love that we have these videos that almost feel like finely edited home movies, because we can watch them with the kids (if they ever want to) and show them all the places we went to and the things we did. The whole time we were watching, I kept thinking how I want to revisit all these places with the kids and experience them again, only this time through their eyes. Now that they’re a little older, traveling with them is so much easier and has been so fun the last few years.

Here are some of the ones we watched the other night:

The one where we went to Disney World

The one where we went on a cruise

The one where we went to Amsterdam

The one where we went skiing in Park City, Utah

If you don’t already, I highly recommend documenting your life in one way or another. It’s so fun to go back in time every now and then.
