Three Simple Ways We Unwind After the Kids Go to Bed
/After the whirlwind of dinner, bath time, and bedtime stories, we turn off all the overhead lights and start switching on the lamps in every room, and the house finally quiets down. The time between when our kids go to bed and when we go to bed has become a sacred time for us. It’s our time to reset, reconnect, and recharge for the next day.
Here are three simple ways we unwind once the kids are tucked in:
Watch TV Together Once the house is still, we settle in for an episode (or two) of our favorite show. Right now we’re obsessed with Agatha All Along and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. I also can’t wait to start Heartstopper season 3! PJ stopped watching it with me before season 2 began, so I need to carve out time on my own to watch it. What are you watching these days?
Pour a Glass of Wine (or Sleepy-Time Tea) After a long day, we each have our go-to drink. Sometimes it’s a glass of wine to wind down, other times it’s a calming cup of tea. There’s something about holding that warm mug (or glass) that helps us both transition into relaxation mode. It’s the little rituals, like sipping and chatting about the day, that feel the most grounding.
Use Our Hatch Restore When it’s time to truly wind down for the night, we turn on our Hatch Restore. The soft glow and calming sounds help signal to our minds that it’s time to rest. Whether we use a light rain sound or a gentle sunset simulation, it’s our signal to put the phones down and let our bodies start to relax before bed.
These small moments may seem simple, but they make a world of difference after a busy day. They’re our way of slowing down and finding a little peace before it all begins again tomorrow.
