Picking Out the Countertops for Holiday House

Picking Out the Countertops for Holiday House

I always get so excited when I get to update this thing with progress reports on Holiday House. We finally got to go to the stone yard tonight to see the stones we want for the kitchen and bathroom countertops!

We’ve known what we are going to use for over a year now, but seeing it in person was delightful because it makes it that much more real. I think the color combination will be beautiful with our dark stained cabinets in the kitchen. The bathroom cabinets are a little lighter, so we’re doing a different countertop in there and I must admit, picking that stone was a bit tricky. The bathroom has a lot of tile going on, so we didn’t want anything too busy for the countertops, but I think we’re both happy with the one we chose.

Side note: after being so warm for the last two weeks, we had a cold front come in this morning and suddenly it was freezing today!

We got all of our hardware in this weekend, and with the countertops picked out, things are really shaping up at Holiday House! It’s easy to look at choosing countertops as just another step in the renovation process, but the truth is this has been three years in the making and the fact that we’re so close is beyond exciting. It’s been a journey to say the least, and that journey is (thankfully) almost over.

The only downside of today was the countertop place was an hour away. It feels like we’ve been in the car nonstop lately.
