One On One Time + Cousins Are in Town!

Yesterday Allan had a doctor’s appointment that lasted way longer than it should have, and we were there half the afternoon (the absolute worst). By the time it was over, there was no point in bringing him back to school since he didn’t have much time left anyway.

So, since his appointment caused him to miss lunch, we took him out to eat instead, just the three of us.

It’s always so fun to spend one on one time with our kids, since it so rarely happens. It’s also interesting because they act so different when it’s just one of them, you know? I think they feed off each other’s energy when they’re together and kind of follow one another’s lead, which is adorable and trying at the same time. Yesterday’s alone time with him was so nice and I want to start doing it more with each of our kids because they’re not fighting for our attention to be heard above one another. I don’t know about the kids in your life, but ours are so competitive with each other when it comes to pretty much everything, including talking time with us, so it was a very welcome change to not have that for a few hours.

The alone time also makes me realize how old they’re all getting so quickly. During his doctor’s appointment yesterday, Allan was answering the doctor’s questions and I swear you would have thought he was 12. I was so proud of him for how he spoke and carried himself with the man he met five minutes before. You really don’t realize how much they change until you see them through someone else’s eyes.

In other news, PJ’s older sister and her family are in town! We drove out to PJ’s dad’s farm last night and had dinner with everyone and the kids got to run around for hours with their cousins. I can’t wait until they live closer to us so this can be a regular thing because they all play so well together and it gives us time to catch up with his sister who lives way too far away.

How cute are they playing cards on the floor in the middle of the house?

Lastly, my Delete for the day would be one of my favorite houses in town came up for sale and when I tell you this is a dream house, that’s an understatement. Well, it’s already pending, and I am devastated. I will go into detail in another post, but basically I could so see our family doing life there. As our kids get bigger, our home has started to feel smaller and smaller, and this other house would have felt just right.

The one that got away!
