An Evening Out
Every Wednesday night, the kids go to church with their aunt, which means we get to have a night to ourselves. We sometimes switch up where we go out to eat, and sometimes even choose to order something in, but most weeks we go to our new local favorite right down the road.
Tonight we picked up our friend Julia and the three of us spent three hours laughing and catching up while eating spicy rigatoni pasta and truffle fries. I ate way too much and I’m second guessing the Vanilla Crème Brûlée I ordered for dessert because now I am hurting, but I am telling myself that it was all worth it. Because it was.
There were many years in the beginning of being parents where we never got nights out and I sometimes wondered if we would ever get them again, so now I try to never take them for granted. But now we’re all home and Allan is practicing his spelling words while we get the other two ready for bed and PJ’s getting a quick workout in.
The kids had a fun night out and we did, too. And at the end of the day, can you really ask for more?
I guess my only Delete for the day would be not going to the farm with PJ earlier. I stayed home to finish up a collaboration we’re working on and missed the beautiful, sunny day out at the farm. There’s always tomorrow, right?
