A Table for Four

It was dinner time and for the life of me did not feel like cooking, so I suggested we all go out to eat. There was a resounding YES from the kids, but a very hard pass from PJ, who did not for the life of him feel like getting out of the house.

I said we could just go and bring him back something to eat, kinda sorta thinking he would give in and just come at the risk of feeling major FOMO, but nope. He stood his ground and said that sounded perfect. So he stayed back and worked out at home while the kids and I went to our favorite local Mexican restaurant. I’m sure this isn’t the first time this has ever happened, where just the kids and I have eaten somewhere, but I honestly can’t remember the last time we did this. It’s always the five of us, but I have to say, the switch up was a nice little change for the night.

And after a rather stressful day where the kids were a bit testy and somewhat naughty (we’ve been on Easter break for the past four days), it was so nice to just sit and relax with them for an hour. They each ordered their favorite meal and we munched on chips and salsa while we all went around the table and said what we’re most looking forward to as they return back to school tomorrow.

I, for one, can’t wait to return to a set schedule and routine. I have found I thrive on routine, and tomorrow is when ours (finally) starts again.
