The First Snow Day of the Year
/It started flurrying yesterday but we didn’t think anything of it. This morning, we woke up to a winter wonderland. That is, for Tennessee at least.
The kids played outside, we went on a little walk, and the oldest kiddo made snow angels on the trampoline. We had a snow day at the end of last year but nothing like this one. The snow today was thick and crunchy, the perfect kind for making snowballs. We have exactly zero snow gear for the kiddos (since we get snow maybe twice a year), so we put socks on their hands at the advice of PJ’s mom and wouldn’t you know, it worked! Great idea, right?
We laid around the house all day. We lit some candles and snacked and read a little and PJ did some TikToks. It was the kind of lazy snow day that only comes once a year when you live in Tennessee so we were determined to make the most of it.
We started cooking a vegetable soup in the mid afternoon, complete with mushrooms sauteed in butter and garlic and soy sauce and lemon juice and wine, because don’t all good & comforting recipes start with butter and garlic?
Wish we had a recipe to post for the vegetable soup, but we kind of just threw everything we had in the pantry into it. Sometimes those are the best kinds of meals anyway.
Hope you had a cozy day too, friends. xoxo
