Oh friends. How are you? Is that a pointless question to ask right now? Are we all feeling, at least in part, a sense of hopelessness for how life has been for the past 4 months? The last few weeks have been especially hard, haven’t they? But at the same time, we’re feeling grateful for the wake up call that they have brought so many, including us. Like we mentioned, everything feels different now and there’s no going back.
On the home front, we have been making progress on the cottage, which feels so good. The electrician came today and it’s always a good feeling when a big task like that gets crossed off the seemingly never ending to do list. We painted the upstairs master bedroom and we are loving the way it’s turning out. It feels very raw and natural and cozy, and it’s completely different than any space we’ve designed before. Sometimes we think to ourselves: should we just sell everything and downsize to the cottage? It sure would simplify things a bit, and in a world where nothing seems simple right now, that kind of sounds nice.
We’ve been taking walks in the evening almost every night during quarantine and they’ve been life savers. It’s been such a nice way for all of us to get out of the house when we don’t feel like driving to the land. We’re so used to them and the kiddos look forward to them so much, that sometimes we don’t even change the kids out of their comfy pajamas before going (as evident in the picture above) haha. However, now that it’s June, it’s starting to get hot, extremely hot, and unless you’re near some form of water, it’s almost unbearable to be outside this time of year in Tennessee. AKA we need a pool.
We’ve started to become vocal about our support for Black Lives Matter over on Instagram, sharing resources and ways you can help the Black community during this time, and going forward. We hope you’ll join in, too, and lend your support any way you’re able. We’re by no means experts and would never pretend to be, but we’re listening, and learning, and educating ourselves as much as we can to help fix the centuries old problem of racism in this country. This feels like the start of a new wave, doesn’t it?
Hope you have a good weekend, friends. Please stay safe and well xx.
