The Sweetest Children’s Book I've Ever Read

A few years ago I spotted a book at a little gift store in Blueridge, GA and I couldn’t get it out of my mind.

It was fall and we were there with our family, way before the kids of course, and the store was filled with a ton of quirky little items and gifts. They were all sweet, but the cover of one of the books caught my eye, so I decided to open it and flip through a few pages. I was immediately hooked.

The book is called “You Belong Here”, written by M.H. Clark and illustrated by Isabelle Arsenault, and it’s absolutely magical. The illustrations are captivating and beautiful, with every scene on every page looking like a painting; a priceless work of art. The colors are vibrant but muted and the font gives it a very literary feel. But, as with any truly great book, the words are the best part.

It’s peppered with loving sentiments throughout, like:

“The stars belong in the deep night sky and the moon belongs there too, and the winds belong in each place they blow by, and I belong here with you.”

“And no matter what places you travel to, what wonders you choose to see, I will always belong right here with you, and you’ll always belong with me.”

Isn’t that gorgeous?

It’s just the sweetest, most beautiful children’s book I’ve ever read and I highly recommend it being a staple in your home, whether you have kids or not. My mom gave this book to us as our first wedding anniversary present and I’ve cherished it ever since. In fact, we love it and the illustrations so much that we bought two more books, cut the pages out, framed them, and hung them on our son’s wall in his room.

I’m telling you! It’s one of my favorite books ever.
