The Exterior of the Beach Shack is Painted & Here's the Color We Chose!!
We are absolutely in love and this turned out better than we could have hoped for.
We bought this beach house at the end of May in 2022, and immediately saw the potential it had. We actually don’t even refer to it as a house, we usually call it a “shack” or “cottage” because it’s so small. Like, really small. Like, pictures don’t really convey the tiny size of it, but it’s so teeny and cute and we love it so much.
Anyway, when we bought the beach shack it looked like this:
And as of yesterday, this is what that same angle looks like:
The summer was spent demoing the exterior siding and installing new windows that PJ found on Facebook Marketplace a few years back for a steal. We adore the green color of the windows on the outside and knew they would look great with white paint for the exterior siding (because is there anything more charming than a white little cottage by the beach?)
So, we chose a paint color we’ve wanted to use for years. It’s a super creamy white that almost has almond undertones to it, and it’s called Aunt Betty’s China. It’s a match of Duron™ DCR101 NRH from Sherwin Williams if you’re curious on where to get it. We got it at the local Sherwin Williams and had them color match it there.
Here are a few progression photos of the beach shack from the same angle, which we’re officially calling Castaway Cottage:
We still have a ways to go, but the general look of the outside of the cottage is finished. There are plans for some kind of front porch and we’re going to be relocating all the bushes in the front so everything is nice and cleared. PJ also wants to add shutters and we’re going to redo the landscaping all together.
I was trying to capture the color accurately and I think the below photos do the best job of what it looks like in person. Aunt Betty’s China is just the perfect warm white and the way it looks on the board and batten with the green windows might be our favorite color combination ever.
This wide-angle shot makes the back of the house look a lot bigger than it actually is. See the little holes on the right? That’s where the outdoor shower will be! It’s already hooked up and working, but that was completed after these photos were taken.
This little cottage has come such a long way from last year. I am so glad it doesn’t look like this anymore:
I can speak for both of us when I say, I can’t wait for it to be finished and we stay here for the first time this summer!!
