Today is Giving Tuesday
We woke up to freezing temperatures this morning, 28° Fahrenheit to be exact. And because it was so cold, I sent the kids off to school in sweaters and big jackets so that they (hopefully) stay warm all day.
Many refugees don’t have sweaters and coats to keep them warm, which is why this season, amid global crises and record levels of displacement, USA for UNHCR is raising funds to provide essential winter supplies to families that have been forced to flee their homes – from Afghanistan, Ukraine and around the world.
But what is Giving Tuesday? Giving Tuesday is a global movement and annual event that takes place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. It serves as a philanthropic response to the consumer-oriented Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On Giving Tuesday, individuals, organizations, and communities around the world come together to celebrate and encourage generosity. People are encouraged to donate to charitable causes, volunteer their time, or engage in acts of kindness. The day promotes the spirit of giving back and making a positive impact on communities and causes around the world, fostering a sense of collective generosity and social responsibility.
A generous gift of $143 can provide a family with essential aid and winter survival kits that can include things like warm coats, thermal blankets, cash assistance and plastic sheeting to protect shelters from high winds and freezing rain.
This year, all donations made to USA for UNHCR for Giving Tuesday will be matched $1-for-$1.
This winter, join us in supporting USA for UNHCR to provide essential aid and winter survival kits to displaced families facing freezing winter conditions. Show kindness and compassion this Giving Tuesday.
