Hey you

Welcome to the blog. Here you’ll find daily dispatches and all the musings of our family’s adventures in our small town as we raise our kids, fix up our farm, and renovate houses, all through the lens of Keep & Delete, where we share the best (Keep) and worst (Delete) part of every day. Thanks for stopping by! We’re so glad you’re here.

Thursday Night Things

Thursday Night Things

After spending all day away at the farm and the gym and then back to the farm, we finally made it home yesterday evening just in time for dinner. We all showered and got our pajamas on and were home for the night, which just so happens is my favorite place to be.

PJ and Allan were in the office for most of the night studying his times tables and learning to count by threes, fours, and sixes. SIXES. I don’t ever remember having to learn to count by sixes, but I think they teach math very differently these days. Anyway.

I got a taste for something a little sweet and the sudden urge to bake kicked in, which usually happens around this time every year. It felt like fall this morning at the farm, with the wind picking up and, in the shade, you would have sworn it was October. So naturally, that means I had to bake something. I didn’t really have a say in the matter.

I made this friendship bread, and, if you remember, I shared the recipe for it on the blog last year. My sister-in-law made it for us and hers was delish, but mine didn’t turn out as well for some reason. It tastes like it’s missing an ingredient or something. I will definitely be making this again to (hopefully) redeem myself. The real test will be the kids. I’ll let them try it before they head off to school this morning.

I’ve always found the little things that happen every day, the details that seemingly don’t matter but make up so much of how we spend our time, to be the most worthwhile of our examination. Weeknight things. Thursday night things. Those are always my favorite.

UPDATE: The kids loved it, so I guess that means it’s good!! I will say, it does better the next day.
