Easy, Creamy One Pot Ground Beef Pasta

The other night, when I wasn’t sure what to make for dinner, I looked in the freezer and saw we had ground beef, so I decided to center our dinner around that. I did a quick search for ground beef pastas and found this one from SaltAndLavender.com that had everything I was looking for: Filling, creamy, comforting, and yummy. I knew the family would love it.

And they did! PJ said this was one of the recipes he wants me to make again, so I am leaving it here, and sharing it with you, so that I can make it in the future. Any time he asks for repeat recipes, I know it’s a hit.

It’s so easy to make and was pretty quick, too. Here’s what you’re going to need:

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces uncooked pasta

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/2 medium onion chopped

  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef

  • 3 cloves garlic minced

  • 1 (14 fluid ounce) can diced tomatoes with juices

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard see note

  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese optional, to taste

Directions:

  1. Boil a salted pot of water for the pasta and cook it al dente according to package directions.

  2. Add the onion and olive oil to a large skillet (or small pot/Dutch oven) and cook for 4-5 minutes over medium-high heat.

  3. Add in the ground beef and garlic and continue cooking for another 8 minutes or so until the beef has browned (break the meat up with your spoon as you go along). Spoon out excess fat if there's a lot of it.

  4. Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 4-5 minutes or until the sauce has reduced somewhat.

  5. Stir in the cream and cook for another 3-5 minutes (it'll warm through and reduce a bit).

  6. Season with salt & pepper as needed and toss with the drained pasta. Serve with parmesan cheese if desired.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
