Saturday with the Joneses
Yesterday was the last day PJ's sister Meagan and her family are in Tennessee before going back home to Virginia Beach today. Sad! We have had so much fun catching up with them, and the kids get along so well with her four kids. Every time they have to go back home, it’s always so hard to say goodbye, especially for our kids, who always ask, “Can we have five more minutes?” when we say it’s time to leave.
We met them all at PJ’s aunt’s house for pizza and junk food because what else are Saturdays for? Also, have you ever had cotton candy grapes? The green ones below tasted exactly like cotton candy, like uncannily so, and they were so addicting.
PJ’s aunt is the best host and truly thinks of everything, including an endless supply of snacks and drinks for all the kids.
We stayed at her house for most of the afternoon into the evening. We set up shop in her formal living room talking and laughing away while the kids were in the den playing, only popping in every now and then to sneak a snack or two from the kitchen.
As it started getting later, we made the short drive out to our farm to show the Joneses Ocoee Farm! And let me ask you: is there anything cuter than seeing a human baby interact with an animal baby? All the wide eyes, gently extended hands, audible “oooh’s” and “aaaah’s”? Our kids couldn’t wait to show their cousins all the animals at the farm and I don’t think it will ever get old seeing them get so excited to show others what makes our little farm so special.
Here is PJ introducing Shepherd to one of our friendliest new lambs:
Josie, as always, was a sweetheart to everyone, and welcomed all the new visitors to her humble abode:
We walked around the whole farm at our favorite time of the day to be out there: right as the sun was starting to set.
As we were walking, PJ pointed out that one of the cherry trees he gave (and planted for) me for my 30th birthday was blooming! Isn’t it gorgeous? Especially against that blue sky.
Nature was showing off the entire night:
And as always, when it was time to say goodbye, we all found ourselves not ready for the Joneses to go back home. Meagan, her husband Jay, and their four kids only come into town a few times a year, and everyone is at those ages when you change so much in such a short amount of time. They’re hopefully moving here in the next three years, so goodbyes like these won’t be the norm for too much longer.
Until then!
