Hey you

Welcome to the blog. Here you’ll find daily dispatches and all the musings of our family’s adventures in our small town as we raise our kids, fix up our farm, and renovate houses, all through the lens of Keep & Delete, where we share the best (Keep) and worst (Delete) part of every day. Thanks for stopping by! We’re so glad you’re here.

The Last Day of School

The Last Day of School

Another year down. How is it that time seems to go by so quickly and yet so slowly at the same time? For a fun comparison, above was today on the last day of school, and below was their first day of school back in August:

Our babies are officially finished with kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade. It’s been a long year filled with so many ups and downs, uncertainties and home runs, learning opportunities and, above all, so. much. growth. It feels like our kids have grown, not just in inches, but maturity-wise, SO much more than we ever thought they could in just 9 months. They’re miles away from where they started way back in August and it’s been the joy of our life to watch them grow and learn and expand their minds.

We’ve dealt with bullies this year, made new friends, and learned the importance of staying true to yourself. Our kids have won Student of the Month, they’ve been chosen as “The Way” student, and they’ve been awarded the Ray of Sunshine of their class. They’ve also had to skip recess due to not listening to the teacher. As with everything in life, there’s a little up and a little down.

What I do know is this: We are both so proud of every single one of them for all the hard work they’ve put in this year. I truly can’t wait to see what next year brings for them and all that they accomplish and overcome.

On our last day of walking them to school for the year, PJ let them smell the beautiful magnolia tree on the front lawn of their school. Anna loved it. “It smells SO good!”

My biggest Delete for the day would be Allan and Anna crying when they got home from school because they realized they won’t see their friends or teachers anymore. They were truly BAWLING and it was hard to see them so sad. Their teachers really made an impact on them this year.

Here we go, summer!!!!
