The Kindness of Strangers
Keep: At the beach yesterday, we were laying out while the kids played in the water in front of us, and out of nowhere, a (really cute, actually) dad came up to us and placed these two little backhoe loader toys in front of our seats, offering our kids to play with them if they wanted. I was caught off guard at first and just said, “Oh wow, thank you so much!” and then I realized what was happening and felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. I told him we really appreciate it and he just quietly said “No problem, we’ll just be over here when you’re finished with them.” And it’s little moments like that that remind me how good people can be, despite everything going on right now. It’s those little moments that make the biggest impact on our lives and how we perceive the world. The kindness of strangers will never get old to me.
Delete: We only have a few more days at the beach, and the reality is sinking in that we probably won’t see this place again until next year. I feel both joy and sadness over that.
