Celebrating Carlos' Birthday

Keep: The other night was all about celebrating our friend Carlos, whom we met at the beginning of this year and has quickly become one of our best friends. Our home was filled with the kind of warmth and laughter that only comes from having your loved ones around and, if you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know those are my favorite kind of nights. Carlos is someone who brings light into every room he enters, so we wanted to make sure his birthday was special. We surprised him as he walked through the front door with his boyfriend, since he thought it would just be the four of us for dinner. He had no idea we invited a few other friends over, which made the whole thing that much more exciting.

We spent the evening sharing stories, good food, and even better company. It’s nights like these that remind us how lucky we are to have this community of people who feel more like family than friends.

We had some charcuterie out before dinner was ready

The house was buzzing with energy, from the kitchen where we were finishing up the salmon and garlic mashed potatoes to the living room where we gathered after the kids went to bed for a few rounds of our favorite game. It was a simple, laid-back evening, but those are the nights we live for.

Dinner is served! Salmon, mashed potatoes, roasted Brussel sprouts with truffle oil, and salad.

The kids peaking down from the stairs while we ate dinner. We served them theirs beforehand.

Delete: I’ve been a bit behind on Keep and Delete this week, apologies! I blame it on the first week back at school.
