Three Thousand Years of Longing
/They don’t make movies like this anymore.
Read MoreWith the Emmy nominations being released last week, and HBO leading all the networks with 130 nominations, I thought it would be fun to share some of the shows we’ve been watching lately on HBO Max, which has quickly become one of our favorite streaming services. Here are our favorites based on what type of mood you’re in…
Read MoreIt seems like it’s been ages since Hollywood gave us a gay couple as the main protagonists in a mainstream movie. Was the last one Call Me By Your Name almost 3 years ago? At any rate, Supernova looks positively wonderful and I can’t wait to see it. It looks like one of those films where I’m going to have to break out the tissues multiple times (those are always my favorite anyway :).
The film is about Sam and Tusker, partners for 20 years, who travel across England and reunite with friends and family. The kicker is that one of them was diagnosed with early onset dementia 2 years ago, so they must figure out how to navigate life together with that illness.
It’s about time we have a film about an older gay couple dealing with all of the ups and downs life brings. Imagine: gay couples in long-term relationships are just like straight couples. Isn’t that a fun idea? :) And though I wish they had cast gay actors in the lead roles, I will happily see anything with Stanley Tucci and Colin Firth in it. Swoon.
The film comes out Nov 27, 2020!!
Hooray for diversity! And inclusion!
Lifetime just announced that real-life married couple Blake Lee and Ben Lewis will star in the network’s first film to feature an LGBTQ+ romance as the main storyline.
The film, called “The Christmas Set Up”, according to NBC News, centers around “Hugo (Lewis), a New York lawyer, and his best friend, Madelyn (Wong), as Hugo spends the holidays in Milwaukee with his matchmaking mom, Kate (Drescher). When Kate sets Hugo up with Patrick (Lee), Hugo’s high school friend and secret crush, there is an undeniable, mutual attraction between the two. But when Hugo receives news of a job promotion in London, he must choose what is most important to him.”
To be honest, I’ve never actually seen a Lifetime holiday movie before (my mother in law loves them), but I will definitely be watching this one. And the fact that the main characters are married in real life makes it 1000 times cuter.
There hasn’t been a release date announced yet, but it will air during the network’s annual “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime”. Can’t wait!!
