We’re Starting the Year Off By Organizing Everything
/It’s that time of the year again.
What is it about the start of the year that makes us just want to organize and clean out everything? You, too? We do it every January and it always feels like the best way to begin the year. A clean, blank slate, and ready to take on the next 12 months.
We spend the entire year filling up our cabinets and drawers with junk and things get lost and moved around so much with five people in the house, and, as December came to a close, I think we both began to feel overwhelmed with all the stuff we have.
For example: I was cleaning out our spice cabinet yesterday and found spices that expired in 2016. Like, excuse me? WHY did we have those for so long?! Surely we’re not the only ones with expiration dates older than some of our children?
I think it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and things like making sure a spice cabinet is organized are not top priority. I can’t tell you how good it felt though to sort through everything and get rid of whatever we didn’t need. Next it’s time to take down the Christmas decorations and declutter even more. It always feels like a breath of fresh air every time we pack the holidays up.
I am already starting to breathe easier.
