The Holdovers & The Best Broccoli Cheddar Soup

The Holdovers & The Best Broccoli Cheddar Soup

The best things about today were, unfortunately, the result of the worst thing that happened today.

First, we watched a movie I had been wanting to see for months now, The Holdovers with Paul Giamatti. Have you seen it? The New England setting and Ivy League school/style had me hooked from the start. It’s the perfect cozy winter movie to watch and I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it!

Secondly, I want to tell you something awful: we watched the movie in bed. In the middle of the afternoon. Because we’re sick. Both of us this time. And I can’t tell you how awful it is to be sick as a parent. Or maybe you already know?

Alyster kept us company while we watched Paul Giamatti and his lazy eye.

I will say though, the rest did seem to help. I’m feeling a little better tonight; my throat isn’t as sore and I’m not as weak/tired as I was earlier. PJ is coming off the end of the sickness, so at least one of us feels good enough to handle things.

Also, I told my mom I didn’t feel well, so she immediately started making the most delicious broccoli cheddar soup. She brought it over along with French bread, extra cheese and carrots, and oranges for dessert.

The soup was so good that everyone had seconds!

I don’t know what I would do without her. I guess you never really stop being a parent who wants to take care of their kids, even if your kids in are in their 30’s with their own kids. Growing up, she is the person who taught me how to love, and for that, I am forever grateful.

She’s still teaching me how every day.
