Read MoreMy loves, remember back in February when we teased something fun we filmed for the day? Well we can finally show you what it was: Our first official house tour we’ve ever done (after six years of living here, no less), and we filmed it with HGTV!
It only feels appropriate we shared our house with them behind the wheel, since they were the ones who filmed our house’s renovation back in 2016/2017 for our pilot Down to the Studs that premiered on HGTV back in the summer of 2017. It’s crazy to think that was six years ago. What is time anymore?
Anyway, in the tour we tell the story of our house, how I grew up here and how we bought it back, and show almost every room (with the exception of a few that we couldn’t show because they were in no way shape or form ready for cameras), explaining along the way the story behind every one. It was such a fun, exhausting day, and I love that we can finally see what we filmed all those months ago. We didn’t get to see any of the footage until it aired, which happened to be on the day of PJ’s accident, so we ended up watching our house tour from the emergency room. Life is kind of funny sometimes, isn’t it?

I don’t think I will ever get over PJ and his DIY skills.
Remember how I mentioned he completed a couple of weekend projects a few days ago? One of them was taking a plain old ceramic vase and giving it some character by adding texture and patina with everyday household products like spackle. It took no time at all and now it sits in our guest room and looks so good against the green walls.
You can see how he made it in this one minute video, if you want!!
This room FINALLY feels finished (after 6 years) thanks to these beautiful, affordable curtains.

When we drove out to the farm yesterday, we couldn’t get there fast enough. We knew the crew had been working all day the day before on framing and setting the windows, and that they would be in by now. And they were!
I wish I could show you in person how good they look. Pictures don’t do it justice because it’s hard to see the scale in photos. They make the room feel 20 feet tall and so much wider than it is. It just feels bigger all around and like you’re truly outside; one with the hill and the mountain. I can’t wait to see all the walls covered in the vertical boards and the windows trimmed out. It’s all going to look so good!
The view from where the kitchen sink will be is stunning. PJ purposely aligned the living room windows with the kitchen so that. the view from both rooms would be straight on:
The new windows are a bit taller than the old ones, allowing for about a foot more of the mountain view than before. Here’s the view now:
And here’s what the living room side of the house looks like from the outside:
I can’t imagine ever wanting to leave this place.
